Author Guidelines
Built-Environment Sri Lanka, welcomes original research-based articles and short communications for publication from researchers engaged in systematic inquiry into built environment issues, with particular emphasis on the areas listed in the opposite column.
- Papers must be submitted in hard copy form together with an electronic format. Papers should be word-processed using Word for Windows 98 or compatible software.
- Articles must include an abstract of not more than 200 words, body of text and a list of references. Please use the APA Style for references.
- Figures and Tables are permitted, provided they are in black-and-white format and are of reproducible quality.
- The articles must be typed in Times New Roman font and the following font sizes must be used:
- Article Heading: 18pt. Bold
- Author: 11pt. Bold
- Sub-headings: 11pt. Bold
- Body of Text: 10pt.
- Figure Heading: 9pt.
- Table Heading: 9pt.
- References: 11pt. Bold (author only)
- Articles will be refereed using a double-blind referral system and referees' comments will be passed on to the author for any amendments. It is the responsibility of the authors to respond to these comments expeditiously.
- Once accepted for publication, the papers should not be re-published without the prior written permission of the Chairman of the Board of Architectural Publications, SLIA.
- Articles already published will not be considered for publication in this journal.
- Please send hard-copies of articles to Editor, Built-Environment Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Institute of Architects, 120/7, Vidya Mawatha, Colombo 07. The electronic copies of articles may be sent on a cd format to the above address or e-mailed to: sliabap@sltnet.lk or sliagen@sltnet.lk
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
- If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
