An overview of the university library system in South Korea

Abstract

University Library system in South Korea has been developed simultaneously with the general economical, technological and cultural changes of the Korean Society. Current facilities and services in the University Libraries demonstrate a strong national commitment in adopting new technologies to enhance library services and improving usage.

This short paper provides an overview of current practices and trends in South Korean university libraries. Special attention has been given on areas such as library organization, space planning, resource sharing, bibliographic control, ICT, etc.
