Author Guidelines
Manuscript requirements
- Three copies of the manuscript should be submitted in double line spacing with wide margins on clean A4 paper together with a useable electronic version on disk or by email in WORD or RTF format. Those articles, which are not accompanied by an electronic version, will not be considered for reviewing
- Title of the article should be given in Arial font size 14 , bold and left aligned
- Author(s) name, Affiliation, full postal address, Telephone, fax and e-mail (in this order) should be typed in Arial font size 11 left aligned after the title. Author(s) should not be identified anywhere else in the article
- Photographs, pictures, tables and any other illustrations should be supplied as good quality copies. Please make sure that any figures, tables, mathematical formulae are exactly the same on the paper copy and on the electronic copy of the article
- As a guide, articles should be between 1,500 and 6,000 words in length. A descriptive title should be provided
- Authors must supply an abstract of 100-150 words. It should be typed in Arial font size11. DO NOT make it Bold or Italic
- Up to six keywords should be included which encapsulate the principal subjects covered by the article. They should be in Arial font size 11 and placed below the abstracts preceded by Keywords
- Where there is a methodology, it should be clearly described under a separate heading. Headings must be short, clearly defined and not numbered. Notes or Endnotes should be used only if absolutely necessary and must be identified in the text by consecutive numbers, enclosed in square brackets and listed at the end of the article
- Figures, charts and diagrams should be kept to a minimum. They should be provided both electronically and as good quality originals. They must be black and white with minimum shading and numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals. Authors should supply brief captions. Captions should be placed above the table, graph or figure in Arial font 10 and centred
- For photographic images good quality original photographs should be submitted. If submitted electronically they should be saved as tif files of at least 300dpi and at least 10cm wide
- Tables should be kept to a minimum. They must be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals and a brief title
- References to other publications should be complete and in Harvard style. They should contain full bibliographical details and journal titles should not be abbreviated. For multiple citations in the same year use a, b, c immediately following the year of publication. References should be shown within the text by giving the author's last name followed by a comma and year of publication all in round brackets, e.g. (Fox, 1994). At the end of the article should be a reference list in alphabetical order. Some examples are given below

Final submission of the article
Once accepted for publication, the final version of the manuscript must be provided, accompanied by a 3.5" disk of the same version labeled with: disk format; author name(s); title of article; journal title; file name
This will be considered to be the definitive version of the article. The author must ensure that it is complete, grammatically correct and without spelling or typographical errors. In preparing the disk, please use Word or Rich text format
Checklist
Please ensure that the following are supplied:
- Author details in full
- A word count
- An abstract of 100-150 words
- Between two and six keywords
- References (as applicable) in Harvard style
- Tables (as applicable) numbered using Roman numerals and mentioned in the text
- Figures (as applicable) numbered using Arabic numerals and mentioned in the text.
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text is double-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
- If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
Copyright Notice
Articles submitted to the journal should be original contributions and should not be under consideration for any other publication at the same time. It is the responsibility of the author to obtain clearance (for all media in all countries) from the copyright holder for any previously published material, including figures, tables or photographs within articles.
Material submitted should not in any way be obscene, blasphemous, libelous or otherwise unlawful. If you have any doubts about the legal status of an article then please don't submit it for publication until the matter is resolved. Please don't hesitate to contact the Editor for advice on these issues - she will do her best to help you.
For ease of distribution and to guarantee proper policing of use, contributions to the journal become the legal copyright of the National Institute of Library and Information Science unless otherwise agreed.
